Brexit and the new values divide in the west

vote leave

For supporters of Leave, the dominant narrative we are told is because of sovereignty, to ‘take back control’ – their reasons, immigration and globalisation. But are these the real reasons why people chose to vote leave?

Speakers

  • Professor Matthew Goodwin, Professor of Politics and International Relations at the University of Kent, Senior fellow at The UK in a Changing Europe and Associate Fellow at Chatham House
  • Professor Eric Kaufmann, Professor of Politics at Birkbeck and co-Editor of the journal, Nations & Nationalism

They will give their insights into the deeper reasons why people chose to vote to leave the European Union and why there is such polarisation in people’s values in the West today.

Venue: BirkBeck College, Malet St, London WC1E 7HX
