What is the European Arrest Warrant?
The European Arrest Warrants is a simplified and quick surrendering procedure that has replaced extradition among EU member states. A person who has committed a serious crime in an EU country but lives in another can be returned to face justice quickly and with little administrative burden. When the transition ends, the UK will no longer have access to the European Arrest Warrant and will have to agree new extradition processes or rely on conventions that predated it. Some member states can only extradite their citizens to EU member states and therefore already will not extradite to the UK.
