When will the UK leave the EU?

The UK will leave the EU within two years of the date the government triggers Article 50. During this period it will negotiate the loose ends of its EU membership and the framework of its future relationship with the EU. In theory, the two year negotiating timeline can be extended if more time is required, but this requires the agreement of all 27 EU member states.
