Professor Richard Whitman
Richard G. Whitman is Professor of Politics and International Relations at the Global Europe Centre, University of Kent. He is an Associate Fellow and former Head of the Europe Programme at Chatham House.
His UK in a Changing Europe fellowship project examines the evolving pattern of European security and defence relationships that the UK has grown over recent years. A key focus is understanding whether Brexit was a watershed moment for the UK’s role in Europe security but crucially, following
Russian war on Ukraine, the European security order has been put into a state of flux. The rationale is that explaining and understanding the current dynamics of UK security policy and practices is essential in the face of such a context.
