Politics and Society

Join us for a compelling evening bringing together three of the finest writers about truth working today.

The Orwell Prize longlists feature the finest political writing across non-fiction, fiction and journalism from the last year: work that the judging panels believe best fulfils Orwell’s state ambition “to make political writing into an art.”

Speakers:

  • Anne Applebaum, staff writer, The Atlantic and Senior Fellow of the Agora Institute at Johns Hopkins University.
  • Sarah Churchwell, Professor of American Literature and Chair of Public Understanding of the Humanities at the School of Advanced Study, University of London.
  • Richard J. Evans, author of a number of major books, including In Defence of History, The Coming of the Third Reich, The Third Reich in Power, The Third Reich at War and The Pursuit of Power.
  • Chair: Anand Menon, Director, the UK in a Changing Europe and Professor of European politics, Kings College London.
