Tom Tugendhat has had a unique career working at the heart of UK foreign and security policy. Currently serving as Minister of State for Security, Tom previously served as Chair of the Foreign Affairs Select Committee from 2017-2022. He ran for leader of the Conservative Party in 2022. Before entering politics he served in the British armed forces, including deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan.
With the UK having recently updated its ‘Integrated Review’ of security, defence, and foreign policy priorities, Tom will bring his experience to bear in a wide-ranging discussion on foreign and defence policy and his career in politics. We will be covering the main security threats facing the UK at home, the UK’s role in European defence, the response to Russia’s war in Ukraine, and how to address China’s increased assertiveness on the world stage.
