How long would it take the UK to disentangle itself from the EU and its laws?

No one knows how long it will take, in the event of a vote for Brexit, for the UK to disentangle itself from the EU and its laws but most commentators think it will be many years not months. The simple bit is the repeal of the European Communities Act 1972, especially s.2(1) which gives primacy to EU law. However, there are many hundreds of directives which have been implemented into UK law which cover thousands of pages of the statute books. VoteLeave says that it envisages sifting through this legislation and working out what needs to be repealed, what can be amended and what it wishes to keep.
