What is Euratom?

Euratom, or the European Atomic Energy Community, is a separate entity to the EU creating a single market for nuclear materials and equipment. Although it is not an institution within the EU, Euratom is managed by the EU and the European Commission has oversight over the organisation, including for purposes of ensuring safe use of nuclear energy. The UK left Euratom at the same time that it left the EU.
