What is the Conference of Presidents?

The Conference of Presidents (CoP) is the top political body within the European Parliament where Parliament’s president and the chairs of each of the political grouping meet. The CoP determines the legislative and business timetable of the Parliament, decides on the membership and responsibilities of committees, and also represents the Parliament with other EU institutions, national parliaments and non-EU countries. The CoP meets privately twice a month. Decisions are taken by consensus if possible or by weighted majority if not, where each member’s vote reflects the number of MEPs their group holds in the Parliament.
