Who is Dominic Raab?

Dominic Raab is the Secretary of State for Justice, Lord Chancellor and the Deputy Prime Minister. He is the first person to hold the title of Deputy Prime Minister since Nick Clegg in the Coalition government.

From July 2019 to September 2021, he was Foreign Secretary and First Secretary of State. In the latter capacity, he acted as the Prime Minister’s de facto deputy and had to take the reins during the Prime Minister’s illness in 2020.

He was first elected in May 2010 as the MP for Esher and Walton and was Secretary of State for Exiting the European Union between July 2018 and November 2018. During the EU referendum, he supported the Leave campaign. Like his successor, Foreign Secretary Liz Truss, he was an author of the 2012 book Britannia Unchained which advocated free-market reform.
