Who is Matteo Salvini?

Matteo Salvini is a deputy prime minister and interior minister in the Italian government, and leader of the right-wing Lega party. Lega won the 2019 European Parliament elections, gaining 28 seats. Salvini has become a prominent figure on the EU political scene because of his attempts to bring together right-wing parties from across the EU into a single political grouping, the European Alliance of People and Nations (EAPN) group, in the European Parliament.
