Brexit and biobanking: GDPR perspectives

A biobank is an entity which collects and stores human biological materials, and data about such materials, organises them on the basis of population, disease type or other pertinent typology, and provides bio specimens and data for both exploratory research and clinical trials. Depending on whether the UK ratifies the Withdrawal Agreement or leaves the EU without a deal, data protection laws in relation to biobanking will change post-Brexit.
