Mapping EU citizens in the UK: A changing profile?
Over 40 years of EU membership have transformed the makeup of the United Kingdom. EU nationals made up 1.8% of the UK population in 1981. At the time of the EU referendum they were just over 5%.
New research from Dr Laurence Lessard-Phillips and Dr Nando Sigona maps the evolution of EU nationals residing in the UK since 1980. The authors find large variation in geographical distribution of EU-born UK residents, identifying how different areas and individuals will be affected by the Brexit process.BACK TO ALL REPORTS
