The repatriation of competences: implications for devolution

This project examined the effects of Brexit on devolution and multi-level government. It focused on three policy fields where devolved competence and EU competence have overlapped: agriculture, the environment/energy, and justice & home affairs.

The study explored whether UK common frameworks are necessary in these policy areas to replace EU frameworks, and how these might be developed. It examined the implications of alternative political, legal and financial models under consideration, and evaluated legislative and intergovernmental processes as they unfolded.
