What is Global Britain?

Global Britain is the UK government’s mantra for its post-Brexit foreign policy. It was used by Theresa May in her first major speech as Prime Minister to the Conservative Party Conference in 2016. It was intended to signal that the country would not become inward-looking after Brexit, but on contrary would have a global outlook that went beyond Europe. The UK is not the only one to have adopted such a mantra. Both the EU (‘Global Europe’) and Ireland (‘Global Ireland’) have taken on similar slogans.
