What is the European Scrutiny Committee?

This is a committee of MPs in the House of Commons with responsibility for assessing the importance of draft legislation submitted by the EU. The committee decides which legislation ought to be scrutinised further, including any that should be debated by MPs, and which should be cleared without further discussion. It remains unclear what the role of the committee will be once transition ends.
