Who is Maroš Šefčovič?

Maroš Šefčovič is the EU’s representative on the UK-EU Joint Committee, which was set up to manage the implementation of the Withdrawal Agreement. He is the opposite number of Michael Gove, who represents the UK on the committee. Mr Šefčovič has been an EU Commissioner since 2009 and prior to that was a career diplomat in the Slovakian (and before that Czechoslovakian) diplomatic service.
